ENDODONTICS

Endodontics means root canal treatment. Root canal treatment is applied in cases where the part called pulp, which contains the nerves and vessels of the tooth, is damaged in the inner part of our teeth. Dental nerves can be damaged and lose their vitality due to tooth decay, trauma or gum problem.

In this case, infection occurs in the pulp chamber. With time, the infection progresses and it can come to a point where you can lose your tooth.

Operation Process

Endodontics

Following the X-ray and examination, local anesthesia is first applied for root canal treatment. This ensures that the patient does not feel any pain during the treatment. If there is any decay in the tooth, it is cleaned. If there is no decay, a path is prepared with the necessary filing to reach the pulp from the center of the tooth and the pulp is reached. The canals up to the pulp and root tip are thoroughly cleaned with appropriate tools and devices designed for root canal treatment. They are washed and dried with appropriate solutions.

First the canals, then the pulp chamber and finally the tooth filling, the treatment is successfully completed. Afterwards, if needed, it is covered with a crown and it is ensured to be used for many years.

How do I know if I need root canal treatment?

It usually manifests itself as severe pain. Teeth that hurt especially at night are due to the need for root canal treatment.

If there is an internal darkening in the color of a single tooth, root canal treatment may be needed.

If there is a formation such as a pimple on the gum towards the root of the tooth, the root of the tooth is inflamed and root canal treatment is required.

Although rare, sometimes it may not cause any symptoms, an infection can be seen at the root tip on the x-ray and root canal treatment may be necessary.
